Multimedia Presentation

Though the project went relatively well for me, I had a few issues. Were I to redo this project, I would try to keep it more local than I did, whether it be in Fayetteville or in my hometown of Arkadelphia, rather than a 3-hour drive to Searcy. Otherwise, the subject was very open to conversation about her disorder and having me in her house to take pictures over the course of 24 hours. I learned from the subject about how mood disorders really affect people, and how the disorders themselves can be affected by events in a person’s life. I learned that in some cases, it is more beneficial to be direct and head-on in how you talk to the person with the disorder than to skirt around it and sugar-coat things for them. I learned to keep the camera on and ready if I wanted to get good candid shots, and that immediately upon walking indoors to set the white balance and ISO to where you can start getting good, non-blurry shots. Overall, I enjoyed this project and felt as if I learned a lot from it.

Person and Weather

Winter Weather Work
Kelsy, (last name withheld for privacy reasons) a senior at the
University of Arkansas, scrapes ice off the windows of her truck
at her house in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Thursday morning.
Perhaps not the best as the hand is over the face, but I love the sparks of ice.

(It seems I have some more figuring out to do with my new camera, as I thought I was shooting at ISO 100 the whole time.)

Tying Up Loose Ends

Joe Carter ties strings of flags on posts at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Friday. While this happens every week before a home football game, this is Carter’s first time to
do it.

Light and Shadow

Lurking in the Shadows

It was much easier to find the shadows and lights than to find the people that stayed around them.

Another guy on campus with signs, but this time just to give out free hugs.

First Photo Assignment: Something Newsworthy

I saw two guys carrying signs and walking to the union, so I followed them, thinking surely there would be a cool scene set up. And as luck (or a small amount of stalking) would have it, there was.

Andrew Power waits for students to pass outside the Union Friday  morning. Power has created different signs than other on-campus  religious groups with the intent that less people would be pushed  away by his signs.
